Description
The Federal Funding for Energy and Resource Efficiency in the Economy (Loan) – Module 4 Premium Funding supports companies, municipal and state-owned enterprises, non-profit organizations, as well as freelancers nationwide in investments that reduce energy and raw material consumption and lower greenhouse gas emissions. With low-interest KfW loans, up to 100% of eligible expenses can be covered; the maximum loan volume is 100 million euros per project. Funding is provided primarily for energy- and resource-oriented optimizations of production facilities and processes, measures for waste heat utilization, as well as the use of energy-efficient technologies. Upon achieving exceptional climate friendliness, an additional decarbonization bonus may be granted. Applications can be submitted before the start of the measure and until December 31, 2028; funding requires proof of economic activity at a location in Germany and the availability of budgetary funds.
For the application, among other documents, the commercial confirmation of the application (gBzA), a simplified SME self-declaration or SME self-declaration (Annexes 3–5), a de minimis declaration, as well as the online energy saving concept form must be submitted. Depending on the chosen technology, manufacturer declarations from BAFA may also be required. Evaluation is based on the climate friendliness of the planned measures, the savings potential in energy and resources, and the contribution to greenhouse gas reduction. The KfW Banking Group acts as the contact point and coordinates the processing, while the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) provides the funding. Interested companies and organizations receive a tailored financing option for the sustainable modernization of their production processes, enabling them to reduce costs in the long term and increase their competitiveness.
