Funding objective
Promotion of investments by small enterprises in the replacement or conversion of existing production facilities so that they can be operated exclusively electrically, in order to increase energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Description
The grant program “Federal Funding for Energy and Resource Efficiency in the Economy – Module 6: Electrification of Small Businesses” supports small businesses throughout Germany in the climate-friendly conversion of existing production facilities to purely electric operation. Investments starting from a minimum volume of 2,000 euros are eligible for funding, replacing existing fossil energy-powered systems with new electric installations or correspondingly retrofitted conversions of existing systems. A prerequisite is that the equipment to be replaced has been owned by the company for at least five years and will not be reused. The funding rate is 33% of the eligible investment costs including ancillary costs (planning and installation up to 30% of the main costs), with a maximum of 200,000 euros per project. Applications can be submitted until December 31, 2028. The project duration extends up to 48 months.
The program increases energy efficiency and reduces greenhouse gas emissions. Equipment operated exclusively electrically, such as electrically powered ovens, forklifts, washing machines, or process heat generators, achieve significant savings potential. Eligible measures are explicitly not limited to the modernization of building technology but focus on process-related production facilities. Own contributions and the purchase of used equipment are excluded, as are construction work and personnel or operating costs. The proof of use must be submitted electronically within three months after project completion. Through modular funding and straightforward application procedures, Module 6 actively contributes to the decarbonization of small businesses and thus sets impulses for climate-friendly value creation in Germany.
