Description
The Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control (BAFA) supports companies from all sectors in Germany in increasing their energy and resource efficiency with funding rates of up to 45%. In Module 3 "Measurement, Control and Regulation Technology, Sensor Technology and Energy Management Software," investment measures are funded that serve the establishment or application of an energy or environmental management system (DIN EN ISO 50001/EMAS). This particularly includes the acquisition and commissioning of energy management software licenses including training, sensors and analog-to-digital converters for recording energy- and material-relevant parameters, as well as actuators, data loggers, and gateways. Even external cloud services, installation and cabling costs, or the creation of a measurement concept by third parties can be considered as ancillary costs. Applications can be submitted by companies until December 31, 2028, with a project duration of up to 36 months.
Up to 45% of eligible investment costs are funded (large enterprises 25%, SMEs 35%). A prerequisite is integration into an energy management software listed by BAFA, proof of quantifiability and economic efficiency, as well as integration into the management process. Non-eligible costs include, for example, the acquisition of used equipment, license renewals, or peripheral devices such as computers and monitors. Applications must be submitted exclusively electronically with an ELSTER organizational certificate via the BAFA online portal. After issuance of the funding approval, implementation may begin; the measures must be operated as intended for at least three years after commissioning. The proof of use, including a specialist contractor declaration and cost receipts, must be submitted within three months after the end of the project period.
