Description
The Care-for-Rare Aid funding is aimed nationwide at private individuals and offers targeted individual assistance for children and adolescents with rare diseases from less privileged countries as well as within Germany. In acute emergency situations, treatment and travel costs are covered to enable access to state-of-the-art genomic medicine. Additionally, the foundation supports an innovative program for the implementation of child-appropriate, individualized therapy concepts in Germany, thereby setting new standards in the care of seriously ill young patients.
Cases that meet the following criteria are eligible for funding: a rare disease, residence in a less privileged country or in Germany, and an acute emergency situation. Eligible expenses include, among others, medical treatment and travel costs as well as access to genome analyses. Selection is based on the urgency of the case and the severity of the disease.
