Description

The "Chips for Europe Initiative (European Chips Act) – national co-financing" supports Austrian actors in the initial calls of the EU initiative with a grant of up to 50%. The program promotes the establishment and operation of the Austrian Chips Competence Centre, participation in advanced chip pilot lines, as well as access to the Europe-wide design platform. With a total budget of €18 million and a project duration of up to 48 months, the funding aims to strengthen research & innovation in digitalization. It thus constitutes national co-financing that sustainably secures the technological lead and competitiveness of non-profit and public institutions in Vienna and across Austria.

Funding is provided to non-economic organizations or consortia from universities, research institutions, and other non-profit partners without non-Austrian collaborators. Submissions are only possible electronically via FFG eCall and must be written in English. The funding rate is a flat 50%, with the application deadline running from January 11, 2024, to December 31, 2026. The objective of the measure is the national securing of EU co-financing for chip research and development projects and thus the access of domestic experts to state-of-the-art infrastructure and design offerings.
