Description
The Christina Barz Research Award is presented nationwide by the Christina Barz Foundation as a prestigious recognition for outstanding scientific contributions in the field of early detection and disease progression of bulimic-anorectic behaviors. The prize, endowed with 30,000 euros, is aimed at doctoral graduates or graduated research groups from the German-speaking region and honors work with high innovation potential, strong relevance for diagnostics and progression, as well as excellent methodological quality. Submissions are accepted on an ongoing basis and should be submitted to the board of trustees in the form of a written, justified research paper. The award is usually granted every two years, although in cases of particularly numerous or exceptional contributions, multiple prizes may be awarded in one cycle.
Private individuals and educational institutions are eligible for funding provided the grant requirements are met – completed doctorate or status as a graduated early-career researcher, as well as thematic relevance to the early detection and progression of bulimic-anorectic disorders. The foundation prefers submissions from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. The award decision is made by an independent board of trustees based on the criteria of innovation content, scientific relevance, and methodological rigor. The award contributes to sustainably strengthening research on eating disorders and achieving long-term improvements in diagnostics and therapy.
