Description
The CoMove program of the Boehringer Ingelheim Foundation supports outstanding scientists in dual-career situations who wish to follow their partner to Germany or Austria and establish or relocate their own research group there. The goal is to establish an internationally competitive research program at a host institution while simultaneously securing long-term career prospects. The funding is aimed at couples where one partner has already accepted or is about to accept a professorship or group leader position at a scientific institution in the same region. The host institution must provide a commitment at the R3-Established Researcher level, offer infrastructure and administrative support, and guarantee a clear perspective beyond the funding period.
CoMove grants flexible funding of up to €1.5 million over a maximum of five years to cover expenses for scientific personnel, consumables, project-related equipment, as well as travel and publications. Applicants must present an original, creative research program in the biological, medical, or chemical life sciences, demonstrate substantial international experience and visibility, and ensure that no parallel funding from other organizations exists. Accompanying documents must include binding letters of commitment from the host institution and confirmations from the partner institution, as well as a detailed project description and a complete publication list. Applications can be submitted continuously via the online portal and are evaluated through a multi-stage review process based on scientific excellence, innovation, international experience, and sustainability of the career perspective.
