Description

The CZS Plus program is aimed at alumni of the Carl Zeiss Foundation who have completed funding and their doctorate and are working at a public university or non-university research institution in Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate, or Thuringia. Grants of up to €40,000 can be applied for year-round to implement outreach, communication, or exchange activities in the STEM field. Examples of funded activities include exhibitions, competitions, action days, podcasts, videos, websites, as well as summer schools or invitations for guest researchers. Project durations are up to nine months. Eligible expenses include event costs, fees, as well as travel and accommodation expenses for speakers, personnel costs for staff and student assistants, costs for agencies and content production, and capital expenditures directly related to the measure. Personnel and living expenses as well as activities already supported by other private third-party funders are not eligible for funding.

For the application, a fully completed and signed application form, a financing plan, short CVs of the involved alumni, a project description with a concept of measures, a letter of motivation, and a consent form for data processing (GDPR) must be submitted. The decision is made within eight weeks after receipt of all documents. Evaluation criteria include the plausibility of the requested funds, added value and impact potential of the measure, as well as networking and interdisciplinarity potential. The program specifically promotes the communicative dissemination of research and scientific exchange—with the goal of reaching new target groups, advancing networking, and strengthening interdisciplinary and international cooperation.
