Description

The "CZS Transfer" program of the Carl Zeiss Foundation supports excellent, application-oriented research at Universities of Applied Sciences (UAS) nationwide. The goal is to expand knowledge transfer between science, industry, and society. Funded are research projects with a clear transfer focus that advance innovative solutions in the fields of research & innovation and science. Applicants are UAS in Germany presenting outstanding research approaches and whose projects provide sustainable added value for regional and supra-regional partners. The continuous submission option enables flexible planning and implementation of outstanding transfer projects without fixed application deadlines.

Per project, funds of up to €1,200,000 can be requested over a period of up to four years. Eligible costs include, among others, personnel expenses, material resources, major equipment, and research infrastructures, as well as activities for networking with industrial and societal stakeholders. Additionally, the Foundation provides an overhead flat rate of 20% of the funding amount. Selection takes place in a two-stage review process based on excellence criteria, ensuring transparency and competitiveness. UAS retain decision-making authority over the specific use of funds and can thus respond precisely to the requirements of their research projects. With "CZS Transfer," the Carl Zeiss Foundation makes a significant contribution to strengthening applied research and promotes sustainable dialogue between universities, industry, and society.
