Description
The David Kato Fund of the Hannchen Multi-Purpose Foundation supports non-profit organizations and private individuals nationwide who advocate for the rights of LGBTIQ* people in countries with high levels of persecution. Through grants for events, publications, and lobbying efforts, the fund promotes awareness of human rights violations and strengthens asylum seekers persecuted due to homosexuality in Germany. Furthermore, local initiatives in affected regions are supported to expand infrastructure projects, networks, and counseling services, to empower activists, and to enable sustainable solidarity. The goal is to promote social cohesion and democratic participation in the areas of migration, development cooperation, labor & social affairs, as well as agriculture & rural development.
Particularly targeted are activists, initiatives, and project sponsors working in countries facing persecution against homo-, trans*-, and inter*-phobia, as well as organizations and individuals in Germany engaged in information and support work. Funding applications can be submitted at any time. Grants cover expenses for events and conferences, the publication of brochures, press and lobbying activities, as well as networking and counseling measures. In the evaluation process, alignment with the fund’s objectives, a clear focus on affected countries, and the potential for sustainable strengthening on site play a central role. The fund invites all interested parties to contribute to the global commitment to LGBTIQ* rights and to shape the David Kato legacy as a reminder and motivation.
