Description
In Burgenland, a mobile dementia care service is available within the framework of home nursing care in the areas of health, social affairs, and labor & social affairs, which is continuously offered to persons with dementia. The service includes dementia assessments conducted by gerontopsychologists, an individual case discussion to coordinate necessary support measures within the family setting, as well as occupational therapy home visits to promote cognitive and everyday skills. Non-profit organizations, companies, and public institutions receive a subsidy that covers 100 percent of all costs for service provision. The state of Burgenland fully finances this contribution to ensure comprehensive care in the home environment.
Funding is provided to organizations that offer corresponding services within the framework of home nursing care, thereby relieving both persons with dementia and their caregiving relatives. A prerequisite for utilization is an official medical report to determine care and support needs. The funding program is ongoing and valid indefinitely; applications have been accepted at any time since March 14, 2017. Eligible for funding are, in particular, the fee-based deployments of gerontopsychologists as well as the services arising from occupational therapy home visits. This initiative enables low-threshold access to specialized care services and sustainably enhances quality of life in the familiar environment.
