Description

The Monument Funding Guideline of the State of Hesse supports owners and entitled parties in the conservation and restoration of Hessian cultural monuments. Both measures for substance preservation and monument-related additional expenses are funded to maintain historical buildings in their authenticity and ensure their functional security. Eligible for funding are private and public owners, leaseholders, holders of legally secured usage rights, as well as lower monument protection authorities. Project selection is based on the urgency of the preservation measure and the significance of the respective cultural monument in the regional and statewide context.

A prerequisite for funding is the coordination of the planned work with the State Office for Monument Preservation Hesse as well as the possession of all monument and building permit approvals. Proof of financing and the intact condition of the object as of the application deadline ensure smooth processing. Applications are submitted annually by January 31 through the State Office for Monument Preservation Hesse. Required documents include a detailed project description, an itemized list of expenses, copies of permits, invoices with receipts, and photographic documentation of the situation before and after completion of the work. With this targeted grant program, the State of Hesse contributes to the long-term protection and sustainable use of its monument-worthy buildings.
