Description

The Monument Preservation Funding Guideline (RL DFö) supports monument-appropriate renovation and conservation measures on cultural monuments in the Free State of Saxony. The program is administered by the Saxon State Ministry of the Interior and the Saxon State Office for Monument Preservation. Funding is provided to private individuals, public institutions, non-profit organizations, and legal entities under private and public law. The program offers ongoing grants in the form of subsidies with a funding rate of up to 75% of eligible expenses, including monument-related additional costs, construction site setup, scaffolding work, restoration investigations, conservation and restoration measures, training in the field of monument preservation, as well as archaeological documentation and excavation. Routine building maintenance costs are not eligible for funding.

Applications for the general state program must be submitted by October 30 each year, whereas the special monument preservation program accepts applications at any time. Required are a monument protection approval or building permit, ownership or usage rights of the cultural monument, and for non-profit associations, a statutory monument preservation mandate. Necessary documents include a current (not older than six months) land register excerpt, color photos of the existing condition, a site plan, a detailed description of the monument preservation objectives (Appendix 1), and a binding expenditure plan (Appendix 2). This funding offer provides committed applicants with a sustainable opportunity to secure and make tangible the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of Saxony in the long term.
