Description

The Denkstein project of the foundation “Meeting Place for Jewish History and Culture” at the Max-Samuel-Haus Rostock promotes the remembrance of the Jews murdered in the Hanseatic city during the Nazi era. Private individuals, companies, non-profit organizations, as well as public institutions from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania can contribute at any time with earmarked donations to clean, repair damaged Stolpersteine and Denksteine, or to lay new stones. The cost per Denkstein amounts to €135, which ensures the financing of all necessary measures. Due to high demand, prior coordination with the supporting association is advisable to guarantee individual supervision of each laying and to coordinate waiting lists.

The funding offer aims to sustainably strengthen remembrance work and educational projects on Jewish history in Rostock. In addition to supporting building and monument preservation, the program makes an important contribution to culture, media, and interdisciplinary training and further education. By participating in this sponsorship, every supporter can actively contribute to maintaining a vibrant culture of remembrance.
