Description

The German Child Protection Award honors individuals, initiatives, and projects that demonstrate outstanding passion, creativity, and professionalism in the field of child protection in Germany. The award from the German Child Protection Foundation Hänsel+Gretel sends a strong signal to politics, society, and the media in support of constitutionally guaranteed children's rights. Nationwide eligibility for funding extends to private individuals as well as non-profit organizations, interest groups, other associations, and public institutions. The impulse award emphasizes the importance of sustainable change and recognizes commitment in the areas of children and youth, social issues, and work & social affairs.

Applications and nominations are accepted at any time, as the jury meets at least twice a year and does not follow a fixed awarding schedule. Selection criteria include relevance to child protection or children's rights, the sustainability of initiated improvements, involvement of the target group, creative approaches to solutions, as well as impact through communication and quality in research, conception, and implementation. The award seeks actors whose contributions provide impetus for political decision-makers, civil society, and the media.
