Description

The German Musical Instrument Fund of the German Music Foundation enables highly talented string players nationwide from the age of 12 to access first-class historical and modern instruments such as Stradivari, Guarneri, or Guadagnini violins. Within the framework of the 34th competition (application period 01.08.2026–30.10.2026) and the Small Allocation (application deadline 02.08.2026), the loan instruments are awarded for a period of 12 months each, with the option of extension until the age of 30. The aim is to sustainably promote the artistic development of young prizewinners of the federal competition "Jugend musiziert," the German Music Competition, or comparable international competitions. The instrument handover takes place in a ceremonial setting, accompanied by an expert jury decision based on recent competition successes and achieved scores.

Eligible to participate are private individuals aged 12 to 28 with a 1st prize at the federal competition "Jugend musiziert" or the German Music Competition (not older than two years) or a 1st to 3rd prize at recognized international competitions. Applications require a tabular artistic CV, a letter of motivation, proof of competition, and a current photo. Selection is 100% funding quota-based and considers the quality of achievements over the past two years. The project start is possible from 26.02.2027. This offer is particularly aimed at emerging soloists who receive decisive impulses for their musical careers through the loan of a master instrument.
