Description

The funding measure “Development of Capacity Building for Cancer Research in the EU and Ukraine” supports a three-year coordination and support project with a total budget of up to €5,000,000. The goal is the sustainable development of research and innovation capacities of Ukrainian cancer infrastructures in close partnership with institutions from EU Member States and associated countries. The focus is on the design and implementation of a modular training program – including distance learning elements –, targeted twinning activities with staff exchanges and practice-oriented pilot projects, as well as the optimization of digital infrastructures. Special attention is given to the integration of clinical trials and the further development of data processing systems and registries. A participatory development approach equally involves researchers, clinical staff, and technical experts to strengthen patient care in Ukraine and align it with EU standards.

Eligible applicants include educational institutions, non-profit and public entities, as well as companies of any size. A prerequisite is a consortium of at least three independent partners from three different EU/associated countries, proven experience with EU/Horizon Europe projects, and a clear focus on cancer research and capacity building. Funding covers 100% of personnel, travel, and material costs (construction costs and retrospective expenses are excluded). Applications can be submitted online until 15.09.2026, 17:00 Brussels time. The European Commission evaluates the project proposals based on innovation content, benefits for Ukrainian centers, feasibility, and consortium competence. Interested organizations can find all details on application requirements and submission modalities in the EU Funding & Tenders Portal under the call HORIZON-MISS-2026-02-CANCER-06, call identifier HORIZON-MISS-2026-02.
