Description

For over 70 years, the DFB Social Welfare Organization of the DFB Sepp Herberger Foundation has promoted solidarity and cohesion within the football family throughout Germany. Unbureaucratically, it supports active and former players, bereaved relatives, and individuals affected by sports accidents or health-related consequences who have fallen into hardship through no fault of their own. Assistance ranges from financial grants in cases of economic distress to subsidies for the procurement of sports prostheses, as well as support during rehabilitation measures following accidents. As the oldest pillar of the foundation's work, the Social Welfare Organization carries forward the legacy of Sepp and Eva Herberger and works sustainably to alleviate personal hardships within the football community and to strengthen social cohesion.

Applications can be submitted at any time by privately entitled members of the football family. The prerequisite is a hardship through no fault of their own in the economic or health sector, as well as affiliation with organized football. Each application is handled discreetly and examined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to individual case analyses, non-profit law assessments pursuant to § 53 AO are also taken into account. The aim of the funding is to provide quick and unbureaucratic assistance to those affected—whether through immediate financial aid in the event of death, rehabilitation support after sports accidents, or assistance with existential bottlenecks. Through this commitment, the DFB Sepp Herberger Foundation sends a strong signal for solidarity, inclusion, and social cohesion in German football.
