Description
The German Research Foundation (DFG) supports Hessian Universities of Applied Sciences (HAW) and Universities of Applied Sciences (FH) throughout Germany with a comprehensive funding program. Through a continuously open grant framework, knowledge-driven research projects, graduate schools, and measures for knowledge transfer are funded. The aim is to sustainably strengthen the institutional research structures at HAW and FH, expand research priorities, and intensify the exchange between science, industry, and society. In addition to individual funding instruments such as research impulses and graduate schools, there are specific programs to support major equipment investments and trilateral transfer projects with industry partners. Through online information events and internal briefings, the DFG ensures that applicants receive practical guidance on the funding process.
The funding is aimed at professors, scientific staff, and research teams at German HAW and FH. A prerequisite for application submission is the official submission by the respective university; for graduate schools, the authorization to award doctoral degrees must be in place. Collaborations with other research institutions are expressly possible and encouraged. The funding programs cover the thematic areas of research & innovation, science, as well as education and training, contributing to the establishment of sustainable research networks. Application deadlines and procedures vary depending on the subprogram, so careful coordination with the respective program descriptions is recommended. With this funding portfolio, the DFG opens up new perspectives for HAW and FH to realize excellent research and transfer innovative results into practice.
