The Diversity Fund North Rhine-Westphalia focuses on artistic forms of expression that have so far been marginalized in the cultural landscape of the federal state. It particularly supports projects and perspectives of people with a migration background, Black artists, older creatives, people with disabilities, as well as LGBTIQ+ individuals. With this measure, the state aims to achieve a noticeable enrichment of cultural diversity and contributes to dismantling structural barriers in the arts and cultural sector. Support is provided in the form of grants and enables realistic planning foundations for innovative initiatives in the fields of culture, media, and music.

Eligible for funding are non-profit organizations, interest groups, and associations as well as individuals who have their headquarters or place of activity in North Rhine-Westphalia. The funds can be applied for exhibition and performance formats, artistic productions, as well as media-based initiatives. By specifically focusing on previously underrepresented actors, the program contributes to increasing participation and visibility of diverse life realities. Participants benefit from financial relief that supports creative development and artistic experimentation and contributes in the long term to a more inclusive cultural scene throughout North Rhine-Westphalia.
