Description
The German Child Benefit Foundation awards three prizes of €10,000, €7,500, and €5,000 as part of the DKS Award 2026 to non-profit associations, organizations, or initiatives based in Bremen and Bremerhaven. The awards recognize new or ongoing flagship projects that effectively and practically improve the upbringing of children and adolescents in the areas of education, health, participation, culture, sports, environmental and nature conservation, as well as vocational training and further education. The focus is on exemplary models that demonstrably have an impact in everyday life, strengthen local cooperation, and can be transferred to other districts. The awards are granted by the board of the German Child Benefit Foundation, with submissions not selected as prize winners also being considered for funding subsequently.
Interested applicants must submit a completed form along with a project description (max. 3 pages) detailing objectives, target groups, implementation and financing plans, and a concise budget plan (max. 1 page). Evaluation criteria include demonstrated impact in daily life, project transferability, and promotion of local cooperation. Participants benefit from financial support and increased visibility of their commitment to social cohesion and democratic participation. Applications must be submitted in writing or online by June 15, 2026. The award ceremony will take place in September 2026; the location and time will be announced after selection. This award is aimed at all non-profit actors who contribute sustainably with innovative ideas to strengthening the living conditions of children and adolescents in Bremen and Bremerhaven.
