Description

The German AIDS Foundation provides nationwide financial resources through its interpreter fund for non-profit organizations and public institutions that counsel refugees living with HIV on medical, psychosocial, and social legal matters. The goal is to reduce barriers through culturally sensitive, life-world-accepting, and discrimination-free linguistic mediation and to enable equal participation in the counseling process. Only interpreting costs are funded to ensure the quality and professionalism of the counseling while addressing the specific needs of people living with HIV.

Eligible to apply are all counseling centers that offer services for refugees living with HIV and require professional interpreters for this purpose. Applications can be submitted informally via email or using the general application form and are accepted year-round. Only costs for interpreting services are covered, allowing organizations to incorporate support directly and unbureaucratically into their budget planning. Through this funding, the Foundation makes an important contribution to strengthening intercultural counseling competencies and improving the quality of care for people living with HIV in Germany.
