Description
The Dr. Langner Jazz Master at the University of Music and Theatre Hamburg (HfMT) offers talented jazz musicians from Germany and abroad a two-year master's program with only 16 study places. Funded as a grant project by the Prof. Dr. Ernst Langner Foundation and the Hamburg Senate, the program aims to strengthen the local and international jazz scene. The university provides intensive artistic training, with the selection process considering artistic excellence as well as the results of the demanding entrance examination. A bachelor's degree in jazz or an equivalent qualification, complemented by outstanding professional competence and a distinctive artistic personality, is a prerequisite for application.
Starting each winter semester, the master's degree seeks to promote sustainable development of the jazz education landscape in Hamburg and beyond. The funding is aimed at individuals who are specifically engaged in the fields of training & continuing education, education, culture, music, and media. During the 24-month project duration, participants benefit from an international environment, practice-oriented workshops, and an extensive network of instructors and guest professors.
