Description

The dual study program in Social Work at the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW) in cooperation with the foundation Supporting Children – Creating Futures combines academic theory phases in Stuttgart with practice-oriented placements at Aussenkehr Farm, Namibia. Over a period of 36 months, six theory phases and six practical phases alternate in cycles of 12–14 weeks each. Students acquire comprehensive knowledge in open child and youth work, school social work, and life skills promotion, and support local health projects at the community health station. The funding covers accommodation costs, transportation expenses, and remuneration for the training period in accordance with DHBW guidelines. This enables sustainable training that strengthens intercultural competencies and opens up new perspectives for young people in precarious life situations.

The funding is aimed at students of the Bachelor's degree program in Social Work (Child and Youth Work) at DHBW Stuttgart who hold a general university entrance qualification or a good advanced technical college entrance qualification. Additionally, completion of a voluntary social year or comparable practical experience in child and youth work, as well as very good English skills and intercultural competencies, are required. Applications with meaningful documents are possible at any time, even if the current training places are occupied. Through this continuous funding opportunity, committed students have the chance to deepen their professional and personal development in an international environment and gain valuable practical experience between Germany and Namibia.
