Description
The Bavarian Cultural Fund supports non-governmental and non-commercial amateur music associations in investments for the construction, conversion, and expansion of rehearsal and event spaces throughout Bavaria (excluding Munich and Nuremberg). Recipients receive a grant amounting to 20% to 25% of the eligible costs, up to a maximum of €50,000. Funded are defined project costs with a minimum investment sum of €10,000, which directly serve the acquisition, conversion, or expansion of rehearsal and performance spaces. Ongoing operating costs or retroactive measures are excluded from funding, as are projects that receive subsidies from other state programs simultaneously. Allocation takes place in spring after review by the responsible district government and approval by the State Ministry for Science and the Arts.
Only non-profit organizations and public institutions are eligible for funding. Applications must be submitted online to the responsible district government by October 1st for the following fiscal year. Required are details on the location and duration of the measure, a description of the association’s previous rehearsal situation, a construction description with room concept, as well as relevant planning documents. The goal is to provide amateur music associations with modern infrastructure that sustainably improves rehearsal quality and performance opportunities. Thus, the funding contributes to cultural diversity and a vibrant amateur music scene in rural and urban regions of Bavaria.
