Description

The Bavarian Cultural Fund supports outstanding individual projects in the field of amateur and non-professional music that have a statewide impact throughout Bavaria – with the exception of Munich and Nuremberg. Funding is provided to non-governmental and non-commercial entities such as non-profit associations, interest groups, municipalities, or private individuals whose initiatives include innovative concerts, competitions, or festivals. Project costs must amount to at least €10,000, and only clearly defined expenses excluding ongoing personnel or operational costs are eligible for funding. With a funding rate of up to 30%, grants of up to a maximum of €1 million can be awarded, provided that the substantive quality and actual impact at the Bavarian state level are convincing. Multiple funding from other public sources is excluded, as are projects that have already commenced.

Applications are submitted annually online by October 1st for the following calendar year through the respective district government office at the location of the project implementation or the applicant’s place of residence. Required documents include details on the location and period of the event(s), participating artists or presented works, as well as a compelling justification of the statewide significance. The submitted concepts are evaluated based on their substantive quality and decided upon in the spring by the State Ministry for Science and the Arts. This funding enables the realization of particularly ambitious amateur music projects that sustainably enrich Bavaria’s diverse cultural life.
