Description
The ERDF/JTF Technology Transfer Funding 2021–2027 strengthens the innovative capacity of small and medium-sized enterprises in Saxony by granting a non-repayable subsidy of up to 50% of eligible costs. Funding is provided for the acquisition of technological knowledge – such as patents, licenses, or non-patented know-how – as well as contract research up to €400,000, adaptation developments, and consulting services from independent technology intermediaries or research institutions. Personnel costs for researchers, technicians, and project staff involved in the project, as well as a flat-rate overhead funding of 25% on direct costs, are also covered. The goal is the realization of new or improved products and processes as well as the implementation of process or organizational innovations, ideally contributing to climate and environmental protection. Projects can be applied for at any time and must not exceed a duration of 18 months.
The funding is specifically aimed at SMEs with an establishment in the Free State of Saxony that wish to increase their competitiveness through technology transfer. A prerequisite for approval is a utilization concept demonstrating market viability and the independence of technology providers and intermediaries – except for research institutions. Applicants benefit from flexible submission deadlines and a clear project structure: from the project description to the cost and utilization concept and the cost plan. The Saxon Development Bank – Förderbank (SAB) handles the application processing and disbursement. Through the combination of EU funds – ERDF, Just Transition Fund, and state funds – this guideline represents an attractive component for forward-looking innovation projects in Saxony.
