Description

Within the framework of the EAGF 2023–2027, the federal funding initiative supports nationally recognized producer organizations as well as associations of producer organizations in the fruit and vegetable sector in the implementation of operational programs. The duration extends from 01.01.2023 to 31.12.2027, with annual work programs to be submitted by September 15 of each year. The objective of these programs is to strengthen the competitiveness of the sector through improved production planning, increased product quality, and optimized marketing. At the same time, sustainability, environmental, and climate goals are promoted: these include soil conservation, promotion of biodiversity, reduction of emissions, savings in energy and water, as well as measures to enhance resilience against pests and plant diseases.

The funding amount amounts to up to 9.2% of the value of marketed production (VMP) per year, with a base funding rate of 50%, which in individual cases can be increased up to 80% or 100%. Eligible costs include investment costs, material and personnel costs, travel, consulting, and research costs. Excluded are, among others, real estate acquisitions, retroactive costs, debt settlement, and replacement investments. Funding prerequisites are recognition as a producer organization, a minimum number of members each with at least 500 kg annual production, establishment of an operational fund, timely submission of the operational program by September 15, and proof of the VMP in the reference period. Operational programs can include a wide range of interventions – from bundling supply and integrated farming to organic production and crisis communication to market and consumer promotion – thus enabling a tailored, future-oriented sector development.
