Installation of Sun Protection Devices in Apartments - Investment Grant

The City of Vienna supports private individuals in retrofitting electrically or mechanically operated sun protection devices on the exterior façade of multi-story residential buildings. Funding is provided for, among other things, roller shutters, louver blinds (jalousies), and façade awnings in combination with double- or triple-glazed windows or balcony doors as well as box windows. The investment grant covers 50% of the documented installation costs up to a maximum amount of €1,500. Eligible applicants are tenants and owners of apartments in multi-story residential buildings in Vienna. Applications can be submitted continuously without any time limitation. Requirements include, among others, a valid building permit from the Municipal Department 37 for buildings in protected zones, as well as, for façade awnings, a quality certificate according to ÖNORM EN ISO 52022 (gtot value ≤ 0.14 or Fc value ≤ 0.23). Excluded from funding are single- and two-family houses, small garden houses, row houses, commercial premises, as well as awnings that do not run parallel to the glass surface when closed or are articulated awnings.

For the application, a consent declaration from the property owner or an excerpt from the land register, an invoice, proof of the building permit, and—if applicable—the manufacturer’s quality certificate must be submitted. The aim of this funding is to increase living comfort and improve energy efficiency in order to reduce summer overheating and sustainably optimize the indoor climate. The funding is financed from housing subsidy and climate protection funds and contributes to sustainable urban development and climate protection in Vienna.
