Electric Taxis in Vienna

The funding initiative "Electric Taxis in Vienna" supports Viennese taxi companies in converting their fleets to locally emission-free vehicles. With a flat-rate compensation of €5 per verified e-occupied hour, the City of Vienna contributes to the reduction of fossil fuels and CO₂ emissions in commercial transport. A maximum of €10,000 can be applied for per e-taxi, with a limit of 15 eligible vehicles per company. The funding is provided as a non-repayable grant and is paid out in installments: after successful application submission with the registration certificate (usage designation 25), an initial advance payment of €5,000 is made, which is supplemented over the two-year accounting period by proof of e-occupied hours. The goal is a largely CO₂-free taxi service by 2030 and the strengthening of sustainable mobility solutions in all Viennese municipal districts.

Eligible to participate are legal entities and natural persons as well as legally capable partnerships with an active trade license, headquarters or branch, and significant value creation in Vienna. A purchase, rental, or leasing contract for a newly registered, purely electrically powered motor vehicle that is not submitted as a used car is required. No insolvency proceedings may be opened until the payment is made. Funding applications can be submitted from January 1, 2023, until the budget of €6.4 million is exhausted; the project duration is a maximum of 24 months from the date of application receipt. To apply, a fully completed online funding application, an official photo ID, the purchase/rental/leasing contract, and the registration certificate with usage designation 25 must be submitted. Processing is carried out in the order of complete receipt date.
