Description

Within the framework of the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) 2023–2027, the State of Vienna, together with the European Union, supports nature conservation projects through a diverse grant program. The funding implements the measures set out in the CAP Strategic Plan 2023–2027 for the preservation, restoration, and enhancement of natural heritage. Eligible applicants include private individuals, companies, cooperatives, foundations, public institutions, associations, interest groups, and non-profit organizations with a registered office in Austria. For investments in protected habitats, visitor management measures, and projects in the field of invasive neobiota management, 100% of eligible expenses – personnel costs, material costs, investment costs, and planning costs – can be subsidized. The deadline for submitting project applications runs from October 1, 2024, to December 31, 2027, with project starts possible from October 1, 2024.

Furthermore, the program supports cooperations in nature and environmental protection (at least two partners) as well as knowledge transfer measures, for which proof of quality (e.g., Ö-Cert) must be provided. Funding applications are evaluated in a transparent selection process based on binding criteria such as conservation benefits, degree of innovation, cost efficiency, and achievement of objectives. The digital funding platform of Agrarmarkt Austria serves as the interface for submission, approval, monitoring, and payment – advance payments of up to 50% of the approved grant (max. 150,000 euros) are optionally possible. The goal is to make a tangible contribution to biodiversity and climate protection in the State of Vienna through targeted investments, cooperation, and professional exchange.
