Description

The Empowerment Program Women* & Flight supports self-organized initiatives of refugee and migrant women as well as LBTIQ+ nationwide. With financial grants for material and personnel costs, as well as non-material support in the form of consultation, networking, and professional exchange, the program strengthens the visibility and autonomy of these groups. A distinctive feature is the participatory selection process: an advisory board consisting of nine refugee and migrant women as well as LBTIQ+ jointly decides on the allocation of funds. The goal is to create safe spaces where their own objectives can be formulated and activities can be implemented independently. The bilingual procedure (German/English) ensures barrier-free application and project implementation in Germany.

Interested parties include self-organized groups, associations, educational institutions, and non-profit organizations that are independently led by new applicants. The continuously open funding line allows ongoing submissions without fixed deadlines. Evaluation criteria are the participatory selection approach, the focus on empowerment, and the self-organization of the target group. The program is managed by filia.die frauenstiftung, which, as a feminist community foundation, promotes equal opportunities, anti-discrimination, and democracy in the fields of education, social affairs, and migration. Through the combination of start-up funding, implementation support, and follow-up funding, projects receive the necessary space for sustainable impact and social participation.
