Funding objective
Promotion of the financing instrument contracting to increase energy efficiency (energy savings contracting, guaranteed savings), to finance investments in heat generation systems predominantly using renewable energy sources, as well as for the planning and construction of street lighting according to the "Austrian Guide for Outdoor Lighting" within the framework of energy savings contracting projects in municipalities.

Description
Within the framework of the energy contracting program of the State of Upper Austria, non-repayable grants for contracting projects will be awarded from 01.01.2024 to 31.12.2026. Funding is provided particularly for savings contracting projects with guaranteed energy savings, heat generation plant contracting predominantly using renewable energy sources, as well as the planning and construction of energy-efficient street lighting in accordance with the Austrian Outdoor Lighting Guide. Applicants are contracting clients such as small and medium-sized enterprises, public bodies, religious institutions, associations, and other non-profit organizations. The measure aims to promote investments in energy efficiency technologies, strengthen the use of renewable energy sources, and upgrade municipal lighting systems to modern standards.
Eligible expenses for funding include planning, installation, and investment costs in the area of energy efficiency as well as for heat generation plants with a predominant share of renewable raw materials. Prerequisites for the grant include, among others, membership in the Upper Austrian Chamber of Commerce (for companies), the conclusion of a contracting agreement, and timely submission of the application before project commencement via the Upper Austrian Energy Saving Association. Selection is based on the criteria of the extent of energy savings, use of renewable energy sources, and quality of planning and contract design. With this initiative, the State of Upper Austria creates an incentive to reduce operating costs in the long term, promote climate protection, and strengthen regional value creation.
