Description

Shaping the World with Commitment offers a straightforward entry point into development policy educational funding in Germany. The program is aimed at registered associations, schools and their support associations, kindergartens and daycare centers, vocational colleges, universities and student groups, foundations, as well as other public-law institutions, and supports projects that make global interconnections tangible. Topics such as fair trade, causes of flight, human rights, or sustainable agriculture are conveyed through interactive workshops, digital campaigns, exhibitions, or film projects. Eligible for funding are exclusively non-profit or public-law institutions based in Germany that can provide proof of corresponding tax benefits. Financial support is provided as a non-repayable grant and covers expenses for accommodation and meals, travel costs, fees, volunteer allowances, project-related material costs, as well as administrative expenses.

The maximum funding amount is up to €10,000, with first-time applicants able to request up to €5,000. Applications can be submitted continuously throughout the calendar year. The Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) provides the funds, which are administered by Engagement Global gGmbH. New applications are checked for formal requirements within a few days, and the substantive evaluation takes place within six weeks. Up to 80% of the approved funds can already be disbursed during the project period. With low own contributions, usually 25% (or 10% for schools, daycare centers, and purely volunteer projects), the entry-level program supports smaller initiatives in inspiring people for global justice and sustainable engagement.
