Description
Shaping the World with Commitment offers an uncomplicated entry into government funding for development policy education projects in Germany. Eligible to apply are registered associations, educational institutions (schools, kindergartens, university groups), foundations, and public law institutions based in Germany. The program provides grants of up to €10,000 (up to €5,000 for first-time recipients) and covers up to 75% of eligible costs. The funding targets projects that vividly convey global interconnections and raise awareness for sustainable development. Continuous application opportunities without fixed deadlines allow for timely submission before the project starts.
All expenses directly related to project implementation are eligible: accommodation and meals according to the Federal Travel Expenses Act, travel costs (within Germany), fees for speakers, volunteer allowances of up to €840 per person, project-related material costs, as well as administrative costs (maximum 10% of total expenses). The project duration may be up to 12 months and must be applied for before commencement. Proof of non-profit status or status as a public institution is required. For the application, the project description, an expenditure and financing plan, the carrier number, a participant list, event confirmations, as well as in the final report a narrative report, numerical evidence, invoices, and payment receipts must be submitted via the funding project software. The funding aims to enable small organizations and educational institutions to convey development policy topics – from Fair Trade and human rights to climate justice – through workshops, seminars, exhibitions, or online formats, thereby strengthening long-term local engagement.
