Development of Systems for Hardware Retrofit of Diesel Vehicles and Mobile Machinery

The Federal Ministry of Transport (BMV) funds the pre-competitive development of innovative systems for hardware retrofitting of diesel vehicles in pollutant classes Euro I–V, EEV as well as Euro 3–5, and mobile diesel-powered machinery with engine power from 18 to 560 kW. The goal is to significantly reduce emissions and create practical solutions for existing vehicles and machinery. Companies and developers benefit from a **grant covering up to 80%** of eligible costs. Funding amounts can reach up to **€3 million** depending on the project volume and are granted within the framework of industrial research or experimental development. Applications can be submitted electronically via easy-Online at any time before the project start.

Eligible applicants are manufacturers and developers of the hardware reduction systems to be developed from across the entire federal territory. A prerequisite is compliance with technical retrofit requirements as well as the issuance of a general operating permit before work begins. A written application must be submitted prior to project commencement, and an application for opening insolvency proceedings or ongoing insolvency excludes funding. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) may receive a bonus that further increases the funding rates if they meet the EU criteria. The two-stage procedure includes submitting the application to the Federal Agency for Administrative Services (BAV) as the granting authority and using the electronic form system easy-Online. This provides a straightforward platform for application creation, processing, and submission of all necessary documents.
