Description
The state of Vorarlberg continuously provides grants for development policy and humanitarian projects in the Global South. The focus is on projects aimed at establishing and improving basic infrastructure that promotes sustainable development and strengthens social justice. The goal is to measurably improve living conditions and future prospects in disadvantaged countries – for example, through initiatives in agriculture and rural development or through emergency aid in crisis situations. Funding is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals and also supports development policy information and educational work to raise awareness among the population of Vorarlberg about global responsibility. Applications can be submitted year-round, with the amount of grants depending on the funds available in the state budget and awarded after review.
Eligible applicants include legal entities such as associations, cooperatives, foundations, companies, municipalities, or educational institutions. Natural and legal persons may also apply for small initiatives. For both large and small projects, a partnership with a locally registered organization in the target country is required. Essential funding criteria include a verifiable connection to Vorarlberg, a clear financing plan, and a thorough presentation of sustainable and socially just project objectives. Evaluation is based on sustainability aspects, social justice, and the potential for a tangible improvement in living conditions. The written application must be accompanied by a financing plan, a proof of use with a final accounting and original receipts, as well as information on concurrent funding applications. This program offers committed actors a long-term opportunity to build effective partnerships in the Global South and drive sustainable change.
