Description
Within the framework of a long-term partnership, the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs (BMEIA), through the Austrian Development Agency (ADA), supports programs in Africa, Asia, Central America, as well as Southeast and Eastern Europe. Eligible for funding are non-profit organizations, companies, and public institutions based in Austria, including institutions from Vienna. Thematic priorities include development cooperation as well as agriculture and rural development. Grants are awarded through public calls, financing based on applications, calls for proposals, and co-financing, with each funding measure aligned with political and strategic guidelines as well as international agreements.
The goal of Austrian development cooperation is the sustainable reduction of poverty, the protection of natural resources, and the strengthening of peace and human security in partner countries. Governments, administrations, civil society organizations, and private actors whose projects align with the goals and principles of Austrian development policy and who contribute their own resources are supported. Applications can be submitted continuously since 01.01.2013, as the program is open indefinitely. Decisive for a positive funding decision, in addition to compliance with national guidelines, are the active involvement of the applicants and the integration into local development strategies.
