Description
The Erasmus+ Sport funding program enables full-time and volunteer workers in grassroots sports across Germany to expand their professional and intercultural skills through cross-border mobility measures. Through job shadowing (2–14 days) and in-depth coaching or practical assignments (15–60 days) at European host organizations, participants gain valuable insights into innovative training and organizational structures. The program aims at the personal development of individuals as well as the sustainable strengthening of the respective sending sports organization. In addition to direct experience exchange, the focus is on building a European network and promoting democratic values in the sports environment.
Non-profit and public institutions in German grassroots sports that are organized on a full-time or voluntary basis and headquartered in Germany are eligible for funding. Applicants may include coaches, trainers, board or executive members, as well as functionaries and coordinators—support for athletes is excluded. A prerequisite for application is membership in an organization active in grassroots sports. The project duration is up to two months; reimbursable costs include travel expenses, material costs, organizational support, individual assistance, preparatory visits, and online language courses. Additional funds are available for inclusively designed activities, and participants with fewer opportunities receive 100% funding. Funding rounds take place continuously in February and autumn (application deadline), allowing sports organizations to flexibly advance professionalism, commitment, and European networking.
