Description

The funding measure for the preservation of former state Tauern trails in Salzburg is specifically aimed at those trail cooperatives named in the government resolution, which now maintain the historic Tauern routes for tourism purposes. Since the Salzburg State Road Act came into effect in 1948, the five former state Tauern trails have no longer been classified as state roads, resulting in a decline in their public significance as traffic routes; however, their tourism potential remains undiminished. With a direct subsidy for personnel and material costs, the State of Salzburg continuously supports the maintenance, signposting, and care of these traditional routes. Funding applications can be submitted at any time; decisive is the timely submission of all documents according to the application form and membership in the respective trail cooperative.

The administration is carried out by Department 6 – Infrastructure and Transport in the Office of the Salzburg State Government, which monitors eligible expenses and compliance with the funding guidelines. The disbursement of funds takes place after positive application review and validity of the submitted documents. The legal basis is the resolution of the Salzburg State Government dated January 13, 1956, as well as the General Guidelines for the Granting of Funding from the State of Salzburg. This financial assistance not only ensures the tourist development and attractiveness of the Tauern trails but also sustainably secures and further develops Salzburg’s cultural heritage.
