Description

The award, granted every two years by the Transylvanian Saxon Foundation, is aimed at scientists and artists up to the age of 40 who, through their work, directly or indirectly bring Transylvania or the Transylvanian Saxons into focus. The prize money of 2,500 euros is intended to honor outstanding achievements by young talents in the fields of science, culture, research & innovation, as well as culture & media. Submissions may consist of individual works or collective projects that are no older than two years and are evaluated by an independent jury for their exceptional quality and relevance to Transylvanian Saxon history.

Applications must include an anonymized version of the scientific or artistic work, either submitted directly with a password or via an intermediary to the Foundation’s board. Additionally, a sealed envelope containing personal identification (name, address, age verification) is required, which will only be opened to verify eligibility. The jury decides confidentially and by majority vote; in the event of equally qualified submissions, the prize money may be divided among up to three recipients. If no submission meets the required quality standards, the Foundation may choose not to award the prize. The formal presentation of the certificate and award traditionally takes place during the Homecoming Day of the Transylvanian Saxons in Dinkelsbühl.
