Description
The program for reimbursing conversion costs resulting from the reallocation of broadcasting frequencies in the 694–790 MHz range supports nationwide multiplex operators in financing technically necessary adjustments. Companies holding a MUX license and demonstrably incurring expenses for planning, implementation, or service efforts related to the frequency change can apply for a grant of up to a total of €3.55 million. Funding is provided, among other things, for the acquisition and conversion of technical equipment, project management and frequency planning costs, as well as information campaigns, provided these expenses are strictly necessary for the frequency band change. Compliance with the principles of economy, efficiency, and appropriateness forms the central evaluation basis.
Applications can be submitted to RTR-GmbH at least twice a year; the specific deadlines are announced by the regulatory authority. As proof, detailed documentation of planning measures and conversion costs, as well as further documents upon request, must be provided. Following a positive review, payment is made within a few weeks to the account specified in the application. The aim of the funding is to sustainably strengthen the infrastructure in the broadcasting and urban development sectors and to ensure a smooth transition to the frequency range 470–694 MHz to be used in the future. Interested companies can find further information via RTR-GmbH and the respective current application deadlines on the relevant official platforms.
