Description

In Tyrol, ongoing grant funding has enabled since March 1, 2013, the creation and updating of forest management plans and forest utilization plans. The goal is to improve the coordination of forest management and measures planning in order to establish sustainable, environmentally friendly, and climate-friendly practices. The focus is on projects that serve both environmental and nature conservation as well as the enhancement of energy efficiency and climate protection. The measure also supports the adaptation of forests to climate change and ensures their protective functions in the long term. Eligible for funding are private forest owners, usufructuaries, as well as organized groups such as agricultural communities, delivery cooperatives, interest groups, and other forest owner associations. The continuous application process without a fixed end date allows for flexible planning and implementation of forest-related projects throughout Tyrol.

Conditions for funding include that no current plan younger than ten years exists and that the planned measure corresponds to the forestry funding catalog of the state. A formal funding application as well as an existing forest management plan older than ten years must be submitted as proof. Flat rates, own contributions, in-kind services, and material costs related to the planning are eligible for funding. Accompanying supervision by the Forest Planning Department ensures that the measures comply with the funding guidelines. Grant decisions are issued after reviewing the submitted documents, and payment is made based on the recognized costs. With this support, the program makes a significant contribution to the long-term safeguarding of healthy forest stands and to strengthening the forest as a habitat, recreational area, and climate protector in Tyrol.
