Educational Support Services

From January 1, 2026, private individuals in Styria can apply for financial subsidies for outpatient, mobile, or inpatient support of children and adolescents in vulnerable life situations. The funding covers both supportive services within the existing family environment and temporary or permanent placement in socio-educational institutions or with foster caregivers. The target group comprises minors whose life circumstances require professional support, as well as their reference persons. Services range from interdisciplinary early intervention and psychotherapy to day-parent placement and intensive pedagogical care and are provided free of charge or combined with cost reimbursement by maintenance obligors, depending on the need.

The program aims to prevent risks at an early stage and implement long-term care concepts. Applications can be submitted continuously; a prerequisite is a qualified risk assessment and the creation of an individual assistance plan. The administration is carried out by the responsible Department of Social Affairs, Labor, and Integration of the Styrian state government, which promotes sustainable inclusion in cooperation with regional providers and services. The funding aims to establish equal opportunities, relieve families in stressful situations, and ensure resource-oriented support for children and adolescents.
