Description
The Europe-wide funding initiative “Horizon Europe Horizon-CL6-2027-01-ZEROPOLLUTION-04” targets consortia consisting of industrial actors, research institutions, and authorities, supporting the creation of a pan-European benchmarking system for industrial bioeconomy sectors. Within a 36-month project framework, innovative bioeconomy techniques – ranging from mechanical and chemical recycling technologies to bioremediation applications in mining and landfills – will be systematically recorded, evaluated, and compared. The objective is to transparently depict the environmental performance, cost efficiency, as well as climate and biodiversity protection of the processes. The European Commission finances the coordination and support action with a total amount of €3 million (100% funding rate). Funding prerequisites include a consortium of at least three independent partners from different EU Member States or associated countries and demonstrated experience in EU research projects.
Applications are submitted through a single-stage, Europe-wide open call and must include a detailed project description, a financing plan, and CVs of the project leadership. Evaluation criteria comprise the innovativeness of the benchmarking system, environmental protection impact, relevance to the bioeconomy, as well as consortium structure and expertise. Subcontracting services, personnel costs, material, and travel expenses are eligible costs. Retroactive costs and real estate acquisitions are not eligible. The deadline for submitting all documents is 22 September 2027 at 17:00 Brussels time. The project makes an important contribution to the Zero Pollution ambition and the Clean Industrial Deal, strengthening the competitiveness of clean, bio-based value chains in Europe.
