Description

The EU initiative to promote the transnational distribution of non-national European films targets film distribution companies and producers within the European Union. Its aim is to strengthen the competitiveness of young European works and increase investments in production, acquisition, promotion, as well as cinema and online distribution. The focus is on generating a potential fund, the size of which is linked to the market performance of the applicants. This fund can subsequently be reinvested in the co-production of films, minimum guarantees for distribution rights, as well as comprehensive marketing and advertising measures. The call opens on December 4, 2025; applications must be submitted by April 23, 2026, at 17:00 (Brussels time).

Eligible for funding are companies headquartered in an eligible EU member state that demonstrate their financial and operational capacity through the standard application form (Part B), Certified Admissions, and proof of independence and ownership control. Eligible expenses include co-productions of non-national European films, acquisition of distribution rights, as well as marketing, advertising, and promotional costs for cinema and online releases. The initiative relies on sustainable networking between the production and distribution sectors to make the offering of European cinematic art visible across borders. Interested companies benefit from a two-stage funding model and contribute to strengthening the diversity of European film culture internationally.
