Description

The European Partnership on Rare Diseases (ERDERA) Phase 2 represents the continuation of an EU-wide co-funded partnership dedicated to sustainably strengthening research and innovation in the field of rare diseases. In this program, non-profit organizations, public institutions, educational establishments, and companies from the EU can jointly initiate impactful transnational research calls together with healthcare institutions, policymakers, and civil society actors. Over a period of up to 84 months, clinical networks will be further developed, FAIR data infrastructures established, and financial incentives created to carry out patient-oriented projects. Until 15.09.2026, consortia coordinated by those who have already participated in Phase 1 under HORIZON-HLTH-2023-DISEASE-07-01 may submit proposals with a funding rate of 50%.

The call includes eligible costs for personnel, operating expenses, and subcontracting services and is based on the evaluation criteria of Excellence, Impact, and Implementation. A comprehensive application requires the submission of a standard application form, a project description, a financial plan, as well as evidence of operational and financial capacity. Special emphasis is placed on the interdisciplinary networking of research, clinical practice, and patient representation. The partnership aims to implement a long-term strategic research and innovation agenda and to establish the highest standards across Europe for diagnostics, therapy development, and data access. Through close collaboration between funders and research partners, competitiveness is strengthened and the quality of life of those affected is sustainably improved.
