Description
The EZ Small Projects Fund Saxony of the North-South Bridges Foundation supports registered non-profit associations based in the Free State of Saxony in implementing development policy small projects in the Global South. The goal is to sustainably improve the material living conditions of disadvantaged groups and to strengthen their problem-solving skills. Projects are funded in areas such as education, health, infrastructure, climate and environmental protection, agriculture, and energy efficiency. Up to 75% of the total costs can be covered, in Uganda even up to 80%. The maximum funding amount is €25,000 per project with a duration of up to 12 months. Migrant-diasporic non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that maintain volunteer structures and contribute specific local expertise are also eligible to apply. Financial plans, a copy of the statutes, exemption certificate, project description, and partnership agreements form the formal basis for the application, which can be submitted continuously.
Through the fund, Saxon organizations gain valuable experience in planning, implementing, and accounting for international projects. Qualification offerings in the form of webinars and in-person seminars on application procedures, monitoring, and proof of use promote exchange and strengthen professional competencies. Selection is based on development policy relevance, sustainability, efficiency in the use of funds, and quality of partnerships. Funded measures range from investment and operating expenses to personnel costs of the southern partner and administrative costs (max. 4%). Exclusions apply to institutional funding, disaster relief, and German project personnel costs, unless exceptions apply. The EZ Small Projects Fund Saxony not only realizes impactful projects in the Global South but also sustainably strengthens the civil society anchoring of development policy in East Germany.
