Description
The travel cost subsidy (employee support) of the State of Burgenland assists privately residing employed persons whose one-way commute exceeds 20 km or for whom public transportation is unreasonable. A primary residence in Burgenland and a monthly gross income of up to €3,697 are prerequisites. Apprentices benefit equally, provided that travel by public transport is not possible. The subsidy exclusively covers travel costs; expenses within transport associations are disregarded if reasonable public connections exist. Depending on the distance between residence and workplace, up to €850 per year may be granted. An eco-bonus of 20% for routes demonstrably traveled predominantly by public transport further promotes environmentally friendly mobility.
Applications can be submitted annually until June 30 of the following year and apply retroactively for the previous calendar year. Required documents include, among others, the fully completed application form, employer confirmation, income proofs, family allowance certificates for single parents, and, if applicable, a parking permit for persons with disabilities or public transport tickets for the eco-bonus. Applications are submitted online or by mail to the Office of the Burgenland State Government, Department 9 – EU, Society and Funding Affairs. Approval is based on verification of the funding requirements; payment is made by bank transfer upon submission of all proofs. This funding aims to increase mobility in Burgenland and compensate for high commuting costs.
