Television Fund Austria

Fernsehfonds Austria continuously provides grants in Vienna to promote the production of television films, series, programs, and documentaries. The program targets independent and professionally qualified producers who realize fictional, documentary, or serial formats with a minimum length of 45 minutes. With a clear focus on media and culture, the fund supports creative projects characterized by broadcaster participation of at least 30% of the total production costs. Independent producers benefit from a transparent allocation process that accepts applications year-round, thus enabling flexible planning periods. The Federal Ministry for Housing, Arts, Culture, Media and Sport, as the funding authority, sets the legal framework in accordance with § 26 KommAustria Act and ensures compliance with the funding guidelines.

Only production costs are eligible for funding, with the funding rate amounting to up to 20% of the verified total production costs. A prerequisite for approval is secured overall financing as well as proof that the expenses incurred in Austria reach 1.6 times the requested funding amount. The minimum requirement for broadcaster participation provides a solid basis for the project's economic viability. Independent filmmakers thereby receive a reliable contribution to implement demanding television formats and to strengthen the creative potential of the Austrian media landscape in the long term.
